Greetings!
It has been a month since I joined the Pamantasan ng Montalban. It has indeed been a very challenging journey. My highest priority is the students and this led me to set my initial direction in working towards the school’s accreditation by CHED and reorganizing your Administration. With that in mind, I would like to make a few announcements:
1. Your new core management group is composed of :
Vice President for Academic Affairs – Dr. Lilia L. Abella
Vice President for Adminstration – Dr. Rafael C. Atanacio
Vice President for Finance – Ms. Blandina P. Parada
Vice President for Research – Ms. Evangeline O. Montano
We shall make this official by finishing the necessary supporting documents this week.
2. The vice presidents cannot hold two positions concurrently as this could potentially lead to conflict of interests. Please expect the announcements of your new Deans for Education and Business Administration in the next days.
3. I am immensely gratified with having everybody getting earnestly involved with the preparations for the coming Foundation Day. We have adopted the theme, “sharing a vision of moral uprightness and academic excellence”. Though I know that you are in your final polishing of activities for a sports fest, the activity is inappropriate with the nature of the occasion as well as the theme that we have chosen. The Committee agreed to replace it with fora where we could invite different speakers who stand as pillars of academic excellence. We also believe that this is a unique opportunity to flaunt your laurels in an extensive exhibition of accomplishments. As for your sports fest, we can consider two options: one is to hold it in its traditional schedule in February. Or, we finish the games a week before the celebration and perform the awarding during the Foundation Day. Please let us know your thoughts.
Unfortunately, some individuals who are in that meeting chose to spread false information, specifically, that the sports fest has been cancelled. This is not true. It is also unfortunate that I have received word after the meeting that the fora cannot be held because the faculty and officials of the school who are present in that meeting decided later on that this type of event is beyond their capacity and experience. Holding fora is not that complicated and would have been very beneficial to the school community. I have therefore decided to cancel this activity.
Our Foundation Day will now be composed of a Mass and the inauguration of the covered courts to be celebrated in one day. The sports fest will be held at a different time and I will consult with the student council about the matter.
4. I apologize for the interruption of the school’s internet services. We are in the middle of overhauling our financial system. Your New Administration is working towards a better integration with the Municipal Government. I appeal for your patience.
5. All official communication shall be disseminated from the Office of the President. Only memos from my office shall be regarded as official. Anyone falsely disseminating information must be reported to my office and will be dealt with accordingly.
6. Your New Administration is expanding solutions to have a better communication system. As I realize the critical importance of the President’s communiqué, I can meantime be reached through my e-mail address pamantasan@lulumoguel.com, my blogsite-www.lulumoguel.com, or at 09209657926. Concerns will only be entertained when the sender is properly identified, that is, complete with name and student or ID number. No anonymous messages will be entertained. Any abuse of these contact services will be dealt with accordingly. All proper communications will be treated appropriately, including confidentiality if necessary. I encourage students to directly communicate with me.
It is my wish that whoever spread the false information regarding the Foundation Day and sports fest be identified properly. Those who know may contact me using the above information.
7. Usage of the school logo is henceforth strictly regulated. Permission from my office must be obtained before the name of the school or the school logo may be used. It has come to my attention that the name and logo of the school is being used for solicitation and communication outside of the school without proper approval.
8. Compensation of all school personnel is now dispensed on time. I presume that this is the best motivation to propel them to maximizing their potentials to better serve you.
In leveraging our best competency, my next days will be focused on:
PnM’s strategic planning
Continuous revamp of personnel
Faculty development
Continuous leadership seminars for student-leaders
Faculty evaluation system
Renovation of rooms
Improvement of facilities
A wide-range of student services
My training outside the school has turned me into a hyper-dynamic person and I will deal with our situation by making the school respond to the dictates of the fast-changing global phenomenon. Our students remain our paramount concern as we maintain a values-driven excellence.
I invite everyone to be our partners in this endeavour. Together, we can build a campus and explore a culture that is respectful of the mystery of faith and the rigor of logical inquiry. We can become better by simply being teachable.
May God shed His Grace on Pamantasan and crown it good!
Let’s proceed...

Lola Mama Joins Lolo and Welcomes the Loving Embrace of Her Creator
After 100 years, 3 months and 12 days, Lola Mama welcomed the loving embrace of her Creator while having breakfast. She left us peacefully! She loved cooking and serving everyone...and she left us that way! Lola, you will always be loved and remembered. Paz said you're now with Lolo, done with praying a bead of the rosary for each one of us, but you are now watching over us! Love you!

Matilde Calderon Moguel (My Lola Mama) Celebrates Her 100th Birthday!
Matilde Calderon Moguel will be celebrating her 1ooth Birthday on Sunday, March 14, 2010! Party has been set on Saturday at Brookside Golf Club, Los Angeles. Pa flew last Saturday to join the rest of the clan. I have to stay here with Ma.
Being the first grandchild, I am the one most blessed to have the privilege of spending much time with her when she was my age now. And how I wish that we were equipped with the technology gadgets this age enjoys so I could have made an audio or video journals of all her stories.
Lola used to bring me to relatives in Pasay, Pasig, and Santa Ana. She knew best how to connect with her roots. While we made our journey, she talked about the different people we visited and the beautiful royal lineage and the historic heritage of the Calderon Clan.
I would not want to miss out on how Lola used to spend her time most. She will be most remembered as a very religious lady. We used to go to all processions and attend all fiestas. To date, I've never missed Antipolo during the month of May. I bet you all in the family that you've also never missed Sunday Mass! This religiosity came the examples she has set.
I missed Lola when she went to America. But when she comes back to the Philippines, her trips are almost spent the same way as any other. She makes time to visit Lolo's grave, she reconnects with her family and visits each one of them from Dimasalang to Pasig to Santa Ana. She visits all the churches that have been a part of her life - Quiapo, Baclaran, and Sta. Cruz. She eats lots of pastillas, queso de bola, pork and still drinks a lot of coffee in between meals.
Across the miles, I send my greetings:
Lola, Congratulations on your 3-digit Birthday! What an awesome milestone for any person to reach! My gratitude to our Creator for this celebration of your life and the beauty it had brought to all of us.
Lola, thank you for the gift of love. Thank you for the miracles you created, not the least of which was the one that created ME! It has been worth having my Lola Mama! Thank you that you gave me refuge, love, warmth and care during my formative years.
This family has been blessed by your long life. You have made this family a beautiful tribe and kept it intact. You are our hub and despite our differences and even if we are all separated by oceans, you've made us deal well with family dynamics. You have been our inspiration. Thank you for your strength, determination and spirituality. May you continue making memories! God's richest blessings to you on your special day! Happy 100th Birthday, my beloved Lola!

Thank You!!!
I am pleasured to have served the Ateneo Graduate School of Business Alumni Association, Inc. I sincerely thank everyone for the support you have dedicated to the Association and in all its Sesqui activities. The experience and the challenges that came with them provided me a great deal of wisdom.
The cancellation of the last two events, the Grand Homecoming or the Blue Cruise and the Concert for the Jesuits, has been both moving and fulfilling. Moving, that we have to go past getting together but fulfilling, as the funds we have earned have been diverted to broaden the Association’s reach in helping Ondoy victims and most importantly, endowing a major portion to the scholarship program of the institution. Yes, we will forward this to Dean Buenviaje before the elections. All the same, we still put forth concerted efforts to solicit sponsorships for the 2009 yearbook in aid of the ailing Jesuits, and so we call for your utmost involvement in this endeavor. This shall rally round the accomplishment of our direction for the year.
Your 2010 Board Members are ready to be voted! May I invite everyone to come and elect or be elected. We have set the Election Date to December 11, 2009, 12NN at the Blue Room, APS Building, Rockwell.
Let us help AGSBAAI continue all the great things it can offer. Let AGSBAAI make it better!
Again, big time thank you and may God continuously shed His grace on you all,
Lulu
